FCTA Flags Off Vaccination Of Two Million Livestock To Tackl

The FCT department of Agriculture and Rural Development Secretariat on Wednesday flagged of free vaccination and treatment of estimated two million livestock to prevent the outbreak and spread of diseases.

The vaccine was carried out in the six area councils to help tackle diseases such as the highly contagious Bovine Pleuropneumonia in cattle and rabies in dog.

Declaring the exercise open at the Nyanya veterinary clinic, the Mandate Secretary, Agriculture and Rural Development Secretariat, Abubakar Ibrahim noted that the target of the exercise was to prevent health hazards.

He added that over 90 veterinary Doctors and Animal Health workers of the Secretariat have already been fully mobilised to ensure that much of the estimated two mmillionlivestock in the FCT are vaccinated. 

Ibrahim also appreciated the Federal Ministry of Agriculture & Rural Development for their assistance towards the completion of the Kuje Veterinary Clinic which is set to be commissioned soon.
