FCTA Moves Against Indiscriminate Waste Disposal

FCTA Moves Against Indiscriminate Waste Disposal

As the rainy season begins to set in, the FCT Administration on Thursday embarked on an aggressive sensitisation campaign against unethical waste disposal in the city.

The road show campaign started from Area 1 round about, through UTC Area 10 and moving across to Wuse Market, Julius Berger junction and terminated at the ever busy Jabi motor Park.

Flagging off  the campaign, the Permanent Secretary FCTA, Olusade Adesola, said the initiative had become imperative considering the worrisome state of Abuja's environment which is gradually becoming an eyesore.

Adesola who was represented by the Director Operations, office of the Permanent Secretary, Samuel Atang, expressed dismay that the nation's capital is plagued with numerous environmental challenges including  poor waste disposal by households and businesses operating within the FCT.

He added that the administration, through the Abuja Environmental Protection Board and other partners have been making effort to ensure that all wastes are promptly evacuated.

Also speaking, the Acting Director of FCT Reform Coordination & Service Improvement Department, Dr. Jumai Ahmadu said the initiative was long overdue considering the frequent reports about some residents converting public facility to waste dump.
