Federal High Court announces annual vacation

The Chief Judge of the Federal High Court of Nigeria, Justice John Tsoho, has announced the schedule for the 2024 annual vacation and the roster for vacation judges. 

​​​​​​​​The announcement was made through a statement released on Tuesday in Abuja by Catherine Christopher, the Assistant Director of Information and ICT for the Federal High Court.

According to the statement, the annual vacation will commence on Tuesday, July 23, 2024, and end on Friday, September 13, 2024. 

“This is in accordance with the provisions of Order 46, Rule 4 (d) of the Federal High Court (Civil Procedure) Rules 2019. Court sessions will resume on Monday, September 16, 2024.

"Judges to enjoy their well-deserved rest and to prepare for the tasks and activities of the New Legal year.”

“During the vacation period, litigants can approach the functional courts in three major divisions—Abuja, Lagos, and Port-Harcourt—for matters requiring urgent attention. Specifically, Justice Emeka Nwite and Justice Peter O. Lifu will be available to handle urgent cases in Abuja. In Lagos, Justice Akintayo Aluko and Justice Isaac Dipeol will be on duty, while in Port-Harcourt, Justice A. T. Mohammed and Justice P. M. Ayua will manage urgent litigation matters,” the statement added.
