Polytechnic Kicks Against Sale of Textbooks By Lecturers Above N1300, Warns Lecturers

Polytechnic Kicks Against Sale of Textbooks By Lecturers Abo

Rector, Federal Polytechnic Nekede (FEDPONEK), Imo State, Engr. Dr Michael Arimanwa has kicked against the increase in the prices of textbooks in the institution, warning lecturers against such.

The Rector gave this warning at the 1000 capacity auditorium while speaking during the forum between the staff unions of the polytechnic and the 14th Governing council.

Arimanwa maintained that the sale of any textbook above N1300 was illegal, noting that the polytechnic was yet to review the prices of textbooks.

He added that increasing the prices of textbooks would affect the standard of living of indigent students, urging the students to expose erring lecturers.

Arimanwa noted his awareness of the increase in the cost of production but stated that he would not make any decision to the detriment of many students of the university.

He however said the sale of textbooks in the polytechnic was not compulsory, adding that FEDPONEK would soon begin the printing administration of textbooks.
