A yet-to-be-specified number of female students of the Federal University of Gusau have been kidnapped by suspected bandits in Zamfara State.
Daily Post reports that the abduction occurred on Friday morning when the gunmen raided the Sabon-Gida community, Bungudu Local Government Area of the state.
The gunmen were said to have invaded three female hostels where they shot sporadically before rushing off with the victims to an unknown destination.
A resident of Sabon-Gida, identified as Nazeer Sabon-Gida, confirmed to Channels TV that the bandits invaded the community around 3 a.m. Friday morning.
“They entered the town around 3 a.m. and started shooting indiscriminately.
“We have yet to confirm the number of students kidnapped because the bandits entered three hostels and kidnapped all the students there. It is difficult to ascertain their numbers now,” he said.
As of the time of filing this report, there were no comments on the incident by the State’s Police Command.
