Females Should Be Treated Fairly - Osun NYSC

The National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) Osun State Gender Desk Officer, Kehinde Salawu has advised Prospective Corps Members to join the fight against gender discrimination in the Nigerian Society.

She made this known during the gender lecture at the NYSC Permanent Orientation Camp, Ede.

Salawu also defined gender equality as the rights, opportunities and privileges in the Society for both male and female.

“All genders must have equal rights in the Society. Females should be treated fairly," she said.

She enlightened the PCMs further on the differences between biological makeup and gender roles of both sexes, the areas of discrimination and how such stereotypes that marginalisés the female specie can be changed.

She concluded the lecture by obliging PCMs to carry placards bearing messages that frown upon gender discrimination and marginalisation of women in the Society.

Some of the messages were: 'say no to sexual harassment', 'say no to female circumcision', 'say no to early marriage', 'say no to rape', among others.
