Fernandez, Maguire, Højlund rescue Man United with vital

Bruno Fernandes scored a brace Wednesday night with a majestic performance at Old Trafford as Manchester United beat bottom side, Sheffield United 4-2 in the Premier League to rise to sixth place in the table.

The start was a difficult one for the Red Devils as they went down with goals from the Blade's Jayden Bogle in the first half and Brereton Diaz in the second half, sandwitched by Harry Maguire's equaliser at the stroke of half time.

Fernandez levelled up for Erik ten Hag's men from the penalty spot in the 61st minute then scored a brilliant second goal in the 81st minute with a 25-yard piledrive. Rasmus Hudjlund scored the last goal for the home side.

The Portuguese has had the most goals involvement in the Premier League with 23 while Maguire has scored as many as four goals in the 2023/2024 season as in his previous three seasons combined.

United is now 13 points behind fourth-place Aston Villa with a game in hand.

The game was watched by Ineos director of sport Dave Brailsford and newly appointed technical director Jason Wilcox.

United also faced similar challenge from Championship side Coventry City in the FA Cup semifinal who held them to a 3-3 draw in regulation time before winning via penalties on Sunday.
