Ferran Torres: Manchester City First Signing As A Replacement For Leroy Sane Ahead of 2020-21 Season

Ferran Torres: Manchester City First Signing As A Replacemen

Manchester City has completed the signing of Valencia winger, Ferran Torres for an initial 23 million euros with an additional 12 million in variables. The two clubs announced the deal on Tuesday night, with the Spaniard completing his medical examination in Barcelona, Spain ahead of his move to the Etihad Stadium.

Pep Guardiola lost Sane to Bayern Munich due to the desire of the German International to want to play on home soil and has picked Munich as his next destination but left the Citizens with one less winger. The Club looked more into the future with the signing of Ferran Torres because of certain things about the deal and the player.

Age

The Spaniard is young, talented, and was one of the most sought-after youngsters in the football world, with Barcelona, PSG, Madrid tipped to be interested in his signature. It is not easy to see such young talent these days. More importantly, seeing the young talent who has been exposed to a competitive environment, playing football at the highest level.

He ended the 2019-20 season with 6 goals and 8 assists in La Liga Santander but now he has moved to another stage in his career.

The Deal

The deal signed covers 5 years at the Etihad Stadium, which put him at the Club till 2025-2026 season that is, if he did not renew his contract before them depending on his progress.

He would also have the opportunity to play under fellow Spaniard Pep Guardiola who is not just capable of bringing out the best in players but knows how to manage them.

The only problem now is he has to play second fiddle to Raheem Sterling, the English Winger is still young also and has not shown any signs of slowing down, on the other flank, two candidates already fighting for a spot, Bernando Silva and Riyad Mahrez. He might be used like Foden, used to play Carabao cup, used sparingly in the League and Champions League.

All boils down to how he adapts under the new management if he does play well and brilliant, he could force his way into the team, Sterling could forced to play another role to accommodate the 20-year old former Valencia player.
