FG berates KFC for discriminating against physically challen

The Federal Government has denounced KFC, an international fast food restaurant brand, for its discriminatory treatment of Debola Daniel, an individual with limited mobility, at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport in Lagos State.

The Federal Competition and Consumer Protection Commission (FCCPC) condemned the food outlet's move as unlawful in a post on its verified X handle on Thursday, signed by its Acting Executive Vice Chairman, Dr Adamu Abdullahi.

The Commission stated that it firmly opposes all forms of discrimination against consumers, including those based on disability.

It further defined the behaviour as not only illegal but also cruel and incompatible with society's core beliefs.

The FCCPC further stated that it will continue to work closely with relevant authorities to provide adequate remedies for the harmed consumer in this situation.

According to the Commission, it will guarantee that the KFC store in issue accepts full responsibility for its conduct.

Recall that the victim of the mistreatment, Adebola Daniel, son of former Ogun State Governor Gbenga Daniel, detailed his ordeal at the airport's KFC store in a series of tweets made on Wednesday on his X account, @DebolaDaniel.

Daniel, a passenger with limited mobility, characterised his situation as "the worst sort of public humiliation" he'd ever experienced.
