The Federal Government has declared a two-days public holiday to mark 2022 Workers' Day and Eid-el-Fitr celebration across the country.

The two days are Monday, May 2 and Tuesday May 3, 2022.

This was disclosed in a statement by the Permanent Secretary at the Ministry of Interior, Dr Shuaib Belgore.

The statement which was made available Thursday night stated that the announcement was made on behalf of the federal government by the minister of interior, Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola.

While appreciating workers all over the country, Aregbesola said the workers "Are largely responsible for the greatness of the country."

He further felicitated all Muslims on the completion of the holy month of Ramadan.

He urged Muslims to imbibe the exemplary characters of the Prophet, Muhammad (Peace and blessings of Allah be upon Him).

“The self-restraint, self-denial, sacrifice and deep spiritual consciousness that accompanied the fasting period should not end but be maintained and improved upon, in order to be a better person and true worshipper", he said.

The minister reassured Nigerians that the current security challenges in some parts of the country will soon be history, adding that president Muhammadu Buhari is committed to ending the security challenges.
