FG Disappointed Over Yola-Mubi Road Rehabilitation, Threatens Contract Revocation

FG Disappointed Over Yola-Mubi Road Rehabilitation, Threaten

The Federal Government has expressed displeasure over the rehabilitation of Yola-Mubi road by the contractor, AG Vision, in Adamawa state.

This was disclosed by the Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), Boss Mustapha while inspecting the road.

The N29 billion road which was awarded in 2017 was inspected by the SGF alongside the new Minister of State for Transportation, Mu'azu Sambo.

Expressing his displeasure, Mustapha said, “I am very disappointed with the level of work here.

"Normally, it is the government that owes contractors and not the contractor owing the government."

He further gave the contractor a one-week ultimatum to return to the construction site.

He further lamented over the pace at which the work was moving.

"Because of the slow pace of work, there was a review and this year another N29 billion was approved.

"We do not want another review, the company must return to the site or face the consequences."

Meanwhile the Minister, Sambo described the development as the exhibition of incompetence by the company.

Mustapha who spoke about the importance of the road linking Adamawa and Borno states revealed that the NNPC would be injecting funds for the project.

Responding to the complaints, the site engineer, Francis Musa, said the delay was caused by the Sallah break but assured that work would resume next week while awaiting funds.
