FG Inaugurates GEEP 2.0, Says 300,000 Benefiting From NSIP I

The Federal Government has inaugurated the Government Enterprise and Empowerment Programme (GEEP 2.0) in Gombe State. 

The FG stated that there are 301,429 beneficiaries currently benefiting from its National Social Investment Programmes (NSIP) in the State.

This was disclosed by the state's Focal Person for NSIP, Habu Shinga during the inauguration ceremony on Monday in Gombe. 

According to Shinga, the NSIP had impacted the lives of residents of Gombe State through its national home-grown school feeding programme, NPower programme, Conditional Cash Transfer, rural women cash grants and GEEP.

According to him: “As at today, about 228, 646 pupils are enjoying this programme; about 3,073 vendors also benefitting from the programme.

“For the N-power 18, 739 are benefiting, GEEP is 3939 while the Conditional Cash Transfer has 47, 032 benefitting.

“Gombe State has a total number of 301, 429 beneficiaries till date.”

He further noted that the investment in the reduction of poverty by the federal government in Gombe state and Nigeria has started yielding results.

He added that with sustained efforts from the FG, more people would be taken out of poverty in the state and the country. 

He further commended the governor Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya-led administration's effort in poverty alleviation and youth empowerment. 

He added that governor Yahaya has supported the scheme by providing infrastructures, empowerment for youths and providing enabling environment for businesses to thrive in the state.

Shinga who doubles as the Special Adviser to the governor on Social Investment Programme said GEEP and other social investment programmes had helped in reducing unemployment amongst others. 

“NSIP through GEEP will also harness the vast potentials of our teeming youths and redirect their energy into productive activities,” he added.
