FG Intensifies Efforts Towards Empowering Girl-Child

The Federal Government (FG) as part of its activities to empower the girl child has intensified efforts at encouraging adolescent girls through an empowerment scheme.

The government through a project tagged Adolescent girls initiative for Learning and Empowerment, AGILE, intends to engage multi-stakeholders to support girl-child education.

The project coordinator, AGILE, Amina Buba Haruna disclosed this on Wednesday in Abuja while Speaking at the launch of a project aimed at increasing access to secondary education among marginalized adolescent girls in Nigeria.

According to her, girl education constitutes the future of Nigeria,  insisting that unless the government takes action and works on them, they will become a drawback in the development of the country.

For her part, the  Honorable member elect representing the Lere East constituency of Kaduna state, Munira  Tanimu,  noted that educating adolescent girls is one of the primary approaches in addressing the challenges of development in the country.

Munira expressed optimism that if people like her and other elected female members would come together as one to make sure that the narrative and betterment of every woman in Nigeria is paramount.
