FG Says Transport Sector Growth Linked To Technology

The Federal Government has disclosed that the development of the transport sector is hinged on technology to withstand the dynamic trends of the globe.

Minister of Transportation Muazu Sambo made the disclosure on Thursday at the 17th National Council of Transportation in Abuja.

Sambo asserted that the innovations were necessary to ensure a more effective transport system that will not only enhance the livelihood of citizens but contribute effectively to revenue generation for the country.

The Minister also urged Nigerians to always safeguard transport infrastructure, particularly in rural areas.

For his part, the Minister of State for Transportation Ademola Adegoroye blamed poor regulations and lack of digital skills for the slow implementation of technological ideas in transport sector.

He further called for capacity building and other reforms that will enhance the use of modern technology in the nation’s transport sector.
