FG Secures $163 Million AfDB Loan For Wheat Production

The Nigerian government has secured a loan of $163m from the African Development Bank to boost wheat production.

According to Channels, this was disclosed by the Vice president, Senator Kashim Shettima, stated this in Argungu, Kebbi State where he paid a condolence visit to the Argungu Emirate, state government, and the family of a renowned Islamic cleric, Sheikh Abubakar Giro, who passed on recently.

Shettima, according to a statement released on Sunday by Olusola Abiola, the Director of Information in the Office of the Vice President, claims that 50,000 hectares of land in Jigawa State will be put to good use for the upcoming programme.

He also mentioned that the Federal Government requires 10,000 hectares of land in Kebbi State for wheat cultivation.

Shettima promised that the government of President Bola Tinubu would deliver on all of its commitments to the people of Nigeria, especially those related to agriculture and the provision of adequate food supplies.
