The President Bola Ahmed Tinubu-led Federal Government has shared relief materials to victims of the recent communal crisis in Taraba State.
The distribution of the relief materials was led by the Adamawa State office of the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) and the Taraba State Emergency Management Agency (SEMA).
The communal crisis between the Karinjo and Wurkum communities in Karim Lamido Local Government Area of Taraba State has left many residents displaced and their properties destroyed.
The federal government's support followed the directive by the Director General of NEMA, Mustapha Habib Ahmed.
During the distribution on Thursday in Jalingo, the NEMA DG who was represented by Cyprian Agwunwa said the gesture was to provide relief to the victims of the crisis.
He said: "The relief materials are a manifestation of the federal government's support through NEMA, aimed at alleviating and mitigating the sufferings of the affected persons."
As contained in a statement by the agency, the DG equally appealed to the two communities to embrace peace and harmony.
Speaking on behalf of the beneficiaries, Bitrus Dan Jos, the Chairman of Karim Lamido LGA appreciated the Federal Government for the gesture.
He further assured of the "proper utilization of the items by the beneficiaries."
The statement added that items distributed included food and non-food items and other various assorted items.
