Her death was confirmed by her friend, identified as @UmohUduakr on Twitter, on Sunday.

Uduak was the one who had earlier raised alarm on Twitter that her friend went missing after attending a job interview.

The outcry garnered tractions as the Nigerian Twitter community created the hashtag #FindHinnyHumoren and called on security agencies to help find her.
On Friday night, the Akwa Ibom State Police Command said it apprehended two suspects in connection to the disappearance of Umoren.

The Police Public Relations Officer in the state, Odiko Macdon, said, “The Police Anti-Kidnapping Squad of Akwa Ibom State Command is already investigating this case. As a matter of fact, two suspects have been arrested. Further updates will be provided as the investigation progresses.”
She was allegedly invited by a young man, Frank Ezekiel Akpan, suspected to have kidnapped her as calls to her telephone lines are not connecting. Akpan, his father, and some other accomplices were picked up by the police after Akpan took to his Facebook page to debunk the allegation.
It was alleged that Akpan took Umoren to his house and hit her with an object after a fight happened between them, which resulted in her death.
Following her death, he buried her in a shallow grave and fled to Uruan, another area of the state.
The suspect was arrested with the help of the chairman of Uruan Local Government Area and was said to have confessed to killing Humoren and burying her in a shallow grave.

Former senate president, Bukola Saraki, in a statement on Sunday morning via his Twitter page, commiserated with the family of the deceased adding that he was ‘devastated by the incident.
“I’ve been following the #FindHinyHumoren hashtag closely over the past couple of days and I am extremely devastated that young Miss Iniobong Umoren, who simply set out to find a job, was raped and murdered.”
“At this particularly difficult time, my prayers are with her family and all her friends who kept this topic on the front burner over the last couple of days.”
“I hope the perpetrators of this despicable act are swiftly tried and sentenced.” he wrote.
