Fintiri Congratulates Adamawa First Female Naval Admiral

The Governor of Adamawa State, Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri, has congratulated Jamila Sadiq Malafa on her promotion to the rank of Rear Admiral by the Nigerian Navy.

Malafa is the first in the North to be promoted to the rank.

She hails from Gombi Local Government Area of Adamawa State.

This was contained in a statement on Saturday by Humwashi Wonosikou, spokesperson to the governor.

According to Wonosikou, Fintiri noted that the new Admiral had over the years proven herself in the profession.

He stated that her recent elevation was thoroughly deserving and an inspiration to other women striving to make a name in the profession.

“I have no doubt in my mind that the cap fits this Adamawa-born strong woman, Rear Admiral Jamila.

"She has a proven track record of excellence in the Navy, which has seen her rise through the ranks to the pinnacle of the profession,” Fintiri said.

Governor Fintiri urged the first high-ranking officer from the State to bring her wealth of experience to bear, not only in advancing the course of the Navy but also the Nigerian military and the State.

“I urge you to see your promotion as one that comes at a time in our national life where we need the military to be more circumspect and developmental in playing its role as the defender of the State and its interests in a democracy,” he said.

He further wished her well while urging her to continue to represent the state well.
