The governor of Adamawa State, Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri, has doled out N2.4 Billion to empower women and youths in the state.
The empowerment was through the state's Poverty Alleviation and Wealth Creation Agency (PAWECA).
The head of the agency, Aishatu Bawa Bello, made this known during the launching of the 10,000 women empowerment programme in the state.
She said the funds have been set aside in the 2023 budget, adding that the government has so far empowered many youths and women in the state.
The event took place on Tuesday, at the Mahmud Ribadu Square in Yola, the state's capital.
Speaking during the event, the Speaker, Adamawa State House of Assembly and Senator-elect, Alhaji Aminu Iya Abbas commended the governor for the giant strides recorded in the state.
Also speaking, the state's Commissioner of Entrepreneurship Development, James Iliya, noted that the governor had recently empowered 492 cooperatives among others.
Meanwhile, in his address, governor Fintiri, said each of the beneficiaries will receive N50,000 support grant.
While distributing the cheques to the beneficiaries, he said the Ministry of Entrepreneurship would follow up them to provide necessary entrepreneurial support.
