Adamawa State Governor, Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri has received the 2024 Hajj report presented by the State Amirul Hajj and the management of the State Muslim Pilgrims Welfare Commission in Yola, the state capital.
The governor appreciated the teams for their efforts while acknowledging the successes recorded by his administration in the past three years during Hajj exercises.
Fintiri also pledged his continuous support to address concerns raised in the report, assuring of his support to improve future Hajj operations in the state.
As contained in a statement by Muhammad B. Tukur, the governor's Senior New Media aide, Fintiri also expressed concerns about impositions by the National Hajj Commission of Nigeria, NAHCON, and pledged to work with other governors to address the issues.
According to the statement, "The Governor approved recommendations one to four and directed the SSG office to study the reports and consider them for future Hajj operations."
Presenting the report earlier on behalf of the 2024 Amirul Hajj, Professor Abdullahi Liman Tukur attributed the success of the 2024 Hajj operations to the state government's commitment and support.
Tukur applauded the Governor Fintiri-led administration for "its incredible support, the Executive Secretary's commitment, and the stakeholders' understanding."
He also expressed hope that the report would provide valuable insights for improving future Hajj operations in the state.
He said the team identified areas for improvement, including "the lack of standard requirements for scheduled officers, limited versatility, and inadequate ICT compliance."
The team further recommended the development of a comprehensive template for appointing local government schedule officers.
On his part, the Executive Secretary of the Muslim Pilgrims Welfare Commission, Malam Salihu Abubakar described the 2024 Hajj exercise as "a great success, surpassing the previous year's performance", while attributing the development to the board's deliberate efforts to improve and the guidance of Governor Fintiri.
