A kerosene fire at a residential building in Iyiagu Estate, Awka, kills one and injures two siblings who were the children of Mr. and Mrs. Michael Anor.
It was reported that the fire broke out on Sunday when a keg of kerosene that was kept at the back of a deep freezer exploded.
It was learnt from sources that three children were trapped in the flat but were rescued by the prompt response of the firefighters who extinguished the fire leaving one dead while the other two sustained various degrees of injuries and have been transferred to Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu Teaching Hospital, Awka, for treatment.

Confirming the incident, the Chief Firefighter in the state, Mr. Martin Agbili, “We received a distress call about a fire outbreak at the Brave-Heart Flats on the first floor of a three-story building, opposite the Marian Plaza and close to the St. Joseph the Worker Catholic Church, Iyiagu Estate, Awka.
