The Sarkin Ban Kano and first commissioner of education in Kano, Alhaji Mukhtar Adnan is dead.

Family sources revealed that Alhaji Mukhtar Adnan who was the District Head of Dambatta, died in the early hours of Friday after a brief illness.

The deposed Emir of Kano, Sir Muhammadu Sanusi appointed Mukhtar Adnan as Sarkin Bai in 1954 to succeed his father.

According to a historian and writer on Kano Emirate, Ibrahim Ado Kurawa, Adnan was born in 1926.
