Five Diesel Tankers Burn From Generator Spark

Five diesel tankers kept in an uncompleted building used as storage space were today on fire at Kwanar Yashi, Maiduguri road in Kano.

The tankers contained 20,400 liters of diesel.

Aside the tankers, other materials lost to the fire include one Machine Lifan and three portable generator in the 200 by 20 ft space.

This was revealed in a statement signed by Kano fire service, Saminu Yusif Abdullahi on Tuesday.

The official disclosed that three victims trapped by fire were rescued alive.

"Today being Tuesday 06th December 2022, our control room received an emergency call from one of our staff CFS Muhammad Musa Giginyu at about 00:25 hrs".

He reported an out break of fire at Kangon Saminu Farawa by Kwanar Yashi Maiduguri Road and arrived at about 00:29 hrs," he said.

The Spokesman added that fire fighters were able to bring the situation under control as soon as they arrived the scene.

According to him the men "saved three diesel tankers, nine surface tanks and stop the spreading of the fire to other premises".

The cause of the fire is reported to be a spark from the portable generator used to upload the diesel from diesel tanker to other surface tanks.
