Five Reasons Why Going To The Cinema Is A Good Idea

Five Reasons Why Going To The Cinema Is A Good Idea

What wouldn't anyone give to simply stay at home and sit back on the chair with a good movie.

However, I'm a big believer that nothing matches the experience of seeing a movie in the cinema.

Some people like to complain about the annoyances of theatergoing (the lines, the ticket prices, the idiot who takes a call on his phone during the film), but wen you stop and think about it, though, the benefits of heading into your local cinema far outweigh the negatives.

Here are five of the reasons I think may spur you to go when another theatre going opportunity comes up:

1. Screen Size:

Over the years, I've seen the occasional multiplex auditorium with a billboard-sized screen.

And if there's anything that makes cinema going worth it, the sheer gigantism of the screen is a sure winner.

You could never get a screen that big at home.

2. The More The Merrier:

The presence of other people adds to the experience.

Oh sure, others could be downright annoying, especially when they feel the need to explain the most obvious of on-screen actions to one another ("He's going to put on the Iron Man suit now!").

For the most part, sharing the movie-watching experience with others only adds to the fun.

Comedies are funnier when a hundred people are laughing together.

Horror movies are scarier when everyone screams in unison.

Tear-jerkers are more emotional when you're a grown man trying hard to hold the tears back so that the macho dude sitting with his family two seats down from you doesn't see you tearing up when Dobby dies at the end of Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows.

3. 3-D Experience:

I'm a cautious advocate of the digital 3-D phenomenon.

Not every movie requires it, but when an Avatar or a How to Train Your Dragon comes along, the effect can be mindblowing.

Yes, there are 3-D HDTVs now, but they're very expensive and the only movie available for them is quite limited.

4. Moviegoing Is Magic:

Jokes aside, you're more likely to be affected by a film's mojo if you see it theatrically.

At home, you might be inclined to pick up the phone if it rings or throw in a load of laundry while you watch, or hit the pause button for a potty break.

In a theater, you block out all the outside distractions and simply sit.

Watching a movie uninterrupted allows you to be more fully transported into its world.

That's what movies are all about - escaping from reality for a period of time.

It only makes sense to give yourself the freedom of forgetting about all the other stuff for a while.

5. Economic Advancement:

Ticket prices might be more expensive than ever, but going to the movies is still much cheaper than going to a concert.

That said, please remember that spending money helps the economy, and in case you hadn't heard, we're in a recession!

Open those wallets and help us restore things to normal!
