Flutterwave To Suspend Virtual Dollar Card Service

Flutterwave To Suspend Virtual Dollar Card Service

Flutterwave, a fintech startup, has announced that starting on July 17, 2022, it will suspend its virtual dollar card service, commonly known as Barter card.

Flutterwave broke the news to its users in a statement on Friday.

Flutterwave's virtual dollar cards for Nigerian businesses have proven to be a successful way for them to convert their Naira balance into US Dollars on a virtual Mastercard for making online payments.

Many Nigerians will find it more challenging as a result of the move to utilise the service to make purchases outside of the nation and transact in dollars.

“We are writing to inform you that effective Sunday, 17th July 2022, all our Virtual Dollar cards will be unavailable for any transactions and purchases.

"This is due to an update from our card partner, which will cause the card service to be unavailable for an extended period of time,” Friday morning's email to clients indicated.

Here is a list of what to anticipate on July 17:

Your Virtual Dollar Card won't work to pay for things or make purchases both online and offline (s).

You won't be able to add money to your current Virtual Dollar Card (s).

The balance of any Virtual Dollar Cards you currently have will be cancelled, and your payment balance will be credited in their place.

It won't be possible for you to make new Virtual Dollar Cards (s).

Immediate next steps:

We advise you to change any regular payments linked to your Dollar Card(s) with another payment option.

Instantly download your card statement for future reference.

Please get in touch with us if you notice an inaccurate card balance.

We apologise for the inconvenience and want to reassure you that we are working with our card partners to restore this service quickly. We appreciate that this update may cause you some difficulty.
