A former Accountant General of Cross River State under Donald Duke’s administration, Rose Bassey, has been abducted by gunmen.
Reports reveal that Bassey was kidnapped alongside three others on Tuesday evening along the Uyanga-Ikomita axis of the Calabar-Ikom Highway.
The gunmen laid siege on the busy highway by shooting at the motorists, forcing them to stop.
It was also revealed that a known cleric in the state, Evangelist Edim Edim Omin, was shot but managed to escape with bullet wounds.
He is reportedly receiving treatment at an undisclosed hospital.
According to Vanguard, Bassey was with her driver and was abducted at about 5 pm on Tuesday on her way back from her farm at Ekpri Iko after Iwuru in Biase LGA.
The kidnap was confirmed by the Police Public Relations Officer of the Command, SP Irene Ugbo, who disclosed that the command is working to ensure the release of the four victims.
