Former Colombian President Resigns As Senator, Under House A

Former Colombian President, Alvaro Uribe, has resigned as Senator while under house arrest over fraud and witness tampering allegations.

Uribe, in his letter to Congress detailing his reasons for resigning, said that it would be impossible for him "to return to the Senate" due to the charges against him.

His resignation shares a shadow with that of 2018 when he resigned after he was summoned by the Supreme Court.

Reports have it that the former president resigned from office because he was evading investigation launched against him by the apex court.

Uribe, 68, said that the court's summons was due to a bias against him.

A week after he resigned, he pedaled back, although, the court's investigation into him did not stop.

Uribe who is under house arrest, as ordered by the court, has been given an opportunity to "mount his defense with all the guarantees of due process," stated to the court.
