Former IPAC Chairman Condemns Nasarawa Women's Topless Protest

Former IPAC Chairman Condemns Nasarawa Women's Topless Prote

Former Chairman of Inter-Party Advisory Council (IPAC) In Nasarawa State, Barrister Haruna Iliyasu Favour has frowned at the topless protest by some women and supporters of the People's Democratic Party (PDP) over the outcome of the just concluded gubernatorial election.

Favour, a Keffi-based legal practitioner described the incident sponsored by the opposition as immorality of the highest order and lamented that it has put the State in the bad light.

He took a swipe at the opposition in the State, stating that they are bereft of cause of action over their acclaimed stolen mandate.

“I wonder what opposition is turning into in Nasarawa State.

"It appears they are bereft of cause of action.

"They initially said they can get their acclaimed mandate through judicial means.

""They later changed gear when they engaged a lawyer who wrote a letter to INEC, hoping to have a review of the exercise.

"Now they have gone completely wild by exposing what both religion forbids its followers from exposing in the name of a protest.

“Lawful assembly and/or peaceful protest is not against our Laws in anyway.

"However, what we see as immorality of the highest order is having people's mothers going completely naked roaming the streets of Lafia with so much frustration on their faces all in the name of protest.

“In all my years of experience as an opposition figure in the state, I have never seen meaningless protest as the best way to drive home a point.

"What is more disturbing and disheartening to me is the fact that all the male sighted in the protest are decently dressed with only the female counterparts exposing their private parts to the world while putting the state in the bad side of the news.

"It is despicable and shameful indeed,” Favour said on Sunday.

The women claimed that their mandate was stolen and insisted that their votes must count.
