Former Super Eagles Defender, Ajibade Babalade Dies Of Cardi

Former Super Eagles Defender, Ajibade Babalade has died of cardiac arrest at the age of 48.  The Nigerian international shone in the domestic league with Stationery Stores, Heartland FC, and Shooting Stars FC in his playing career.

Former Super Eagles and 3SC defender Ajibade Babalade is confirmed to have passed away after a cardiac arrest in Ibadan on Friday.

He died at the age of 48 and he was the team manager of Nigeria National League outfit Shooting Stars Sports Club (3SC).

Babalade played for the Nigerian national team in the 90s and he was part of the team that won bronze at the 1992 Africa Cup of Nations in Senegal.

He started his professional career at Stationery Stores of Lagos but went on to play for the Ivoirian side, African Sports, Anyang LG Cheetahs (Korea), SK Sturm Graz (Austria), and Indian club Mohun Bagan AC.

The Nigeria Football Federation announces his death on their twitter page very early on Saturday morning,

"We are sad to announce the shock demise of former Nigerian defender Ajibade Babalade. Babalade died of cardiac arrest today in Ibadan. May his gentle soul Rest In Peace. Our prayers are with his family."
