Foundation, LASG Build Secondary School In Badagry

The Dream School Foundation in partnership with the Lagos State Government has built a secondary school in Badagry, Lagos State.

The State Commissioner of Education, Folasade Adefisayo, at the inauguration of the school commended the foundation for partnering with the government.

The Commissioner who was represented by the ministry's Permanent Secretary, Abayomi Abolaji said Governor Sanwo-Olu's government appreciates private and public partnerships to promote the plan to transform the education sector of the state.

She said the foundation built the secondary school in Tohon community of Badagry to afford the students in the community further education.

“The intervention by the Dream School Foundation is in support of the commitment of Lagos State to provide quality education and a conducive learning environment in all public schools in the state.

“The governor has inaugurated over 1,449 projects covering 1,036 schools across the state; we also ensured the prompt construction, renovation and rehabilitation of 322 dilapidated public schools.

“Also, 96,334 dual composite units of furniture have been supplied to the schools among other infrastructural projects for conducive learning.

“As a testament to the huge investment by this administration, the performance of students with a minimum of five credits including Mathematics and English in the West African Senior School Certificate Examination has improved, from 38.79 per cent in 2020 to 79.64 per cent in 2021", she said.

She however encouraged the residents of the community to integrate the school into the society and see to its maintenance.

The Founder/Chief Executive Officer, Dream School Foundation, Dena Grushkin, who was also represented by the Director of the Foundation, Suru Ojo, praised the government for its effort in the education sector of the state, stating the need to give back to the society by partnering with the government in providing quality education for the students in a friendly environment.

“The Foundation has deemed it fit to go to rural communities to set up schools because education is a necessity and every child must be given access, which will increase the literacy level and contribute significantly to the growth of the state.", Grushkin said.

She also noted that the foundation provided university scholarships for students in Lagos State, assuring its constant support for the government in the building of schools and the promotion of quality education in the state.

Tutor-General/Permanent Secretary, Education District V, Mr Charles Olajide, political leaders, and Badagry traditional and community leaders were reported to have been in attendance.
