Foundation Trains 1,000 UNIZIK Students On Entrepreneurship

The Been There Foundation has trained over 1,000 students of the Nnamdi Azikiwe University Awka on entrepreneurship and personal development.

The workshop tagged Hope Project 1.0 Southeast, with the theme, Surviving the Present Day Nigeria, is part of the NGO's drive to equip Nigerian students with requisite skills to overcome present economic and social challenges in Nigeria.

Held at ASUU Secretariat, Nnamdi Azikiwe University, the workshop has been slated to also be held in Lagos and Uyo respectively.

The Chief Executive Officer of the foundation, Kassy Nwamara while addressing the students spoke of their need for vocational, entrepreneurial, and financial support to overcome their challenges in this present day Nigeria.

Kassy Nwamara who is also the Managing Director, Homland Group, a real estate company promised to give empowerment, scholarships and other entrepreneurship support for the students' economic development. 

While revealing  that the program is self-sponsored, Nwamara called for collaboration from donor agencies and international organisations and stakeholders in the education sector to collaborate with the foundation to impart the lives of students in Nigeria.

On his part, the Chairman Council of Departmental Presidents, UNIZIK, Comr. Chris Ukoh said that the skills bequeathed to the students would put them on the path to financial freedom.

Ukoh, who organized the event on behalf of the foundation, revealed that students from over 102 departments in the institution were involved in the workshop.

"The Hope project has saved a lot of lives, helped students to acquire skills and make legitimate money for themselves.

"This project is driven by the desire to strengthen the weak and restore Hope to the helpless.

"I commend the leadership of the Been There Foundation for coming here to build the minds of students towards socio-economic development."

Also speaking, the President, Student Union Government, UNIZIK, Charles Ijeoma encouraged the students to cultivate the habit of hard work and determination, which are keys to success.
