The Sudanese Security Forces have killed four people during the nationwide protests against military rule in the country.
It was gathered that the security forces who fired tear gas and grenades as protesters, marched through the state of Khartoum towards the presidential palace on Thursday.
In a statement released by the police on Friday, it was confirmed that four persons were killed while 297 protesters and 49 police officers were injured.
Despite the heavy presence of security forces in most parts of the country with bridges blocked and communication blackouts, the protesters were not deterred.
Repeated protests have been ongoing in the country since the October 25 coup, which saw Abdallah Hamdok removed from power and the country plunged into military rule.
The protesters were seen with placards and chanting: “As much as we sacrifice and die, we won’t be ruled by the boot.”
The Central Committee of Sudanese Doctors (CCSD) have disclosed that more than 200 people were injured during the last protest on December 25. In addition, aleast 52 people have been killed by security forces since protests began.
