France Re-Imposes Curfew After Spike In COVID-19 Cases

Another nationwide curfew has been imposed in France by authorities after the country experienced a spike in the number of COVID-19 infections.

The curfew was announced by France President, Emmanuel Macron, Wednesday, stating that there would be a restriction on travels between regions and that only movement of essential service providers will be permitted.

France's coronavirus cases saw a jump after authorities relaxed the impositions on the country, as the country had seemingly recorded low numbers.

New cases in the country are said to be close to 400 per week.

The second wave of infections in the European country has been tagged as "fatal" by a top adviser of the French Government, Jean-Francois Delfraissy.

Delfraissy said, “We are in a difficult, even critical, situation. We foresaw a second wave but we are surprised ourselves by the brutality of what has happened over the last 10 days.

“The second wave will probably be worse than the first. Many people still haven’t realised what is waiting for us. This wave is invading Europe… will last several weeks, even one or two months.”
