Fraud Syndicate Specialising In Fake Alert Transactions Arre

In a significant breakthrough, the police in Kano State have arrested a fraud syndicate specialising in fake bank alert transactions.

The suspects apprehended include one Alkasim Muhammad, also known as Bauni and Dahiru Muhammad also called Gwaska.

They were captured during a rigorous investigation conducted by the police. 

The police noted that the arrest has shed light on a sophisticated syndicate operating within Kano metropolis.

SP Abubakar Zayyanu Ambursa, spokesperson of the Kano Zone One Police Headquarters, made this known in a statement on Saturday.

He explained that the investigation was initiated after a victim reported a fraudulent transaction in which building materials worth 4.7 million Naira were purchased from them.

The money was initially credited to the victim's account but was debited shortly afterward.

"Sometimes in the year 2022, somebody reported that some people bought building material from him valued at 4.7 million naira which they collected his account number and paid the money into his account which he saw.

"Later in the same day, the money was debited from his account.

"Immediately after receiving the complain, investigation commenced which led to the arrest of the suspects namely Alkasim Muhammad a.k.a. Bauni and Dahiru Muhammad a.k.a. Gwaska are in custody helping investigation. 

"In the course of investigation, one of the suspects confesses to have terrorizing the whole country with this type of fake alert transaction. 

"Also, one of the suspects confesses that they are many that are operating in Kano metropolis.

"However, Mubarak a.k.a. maigaskiya and Bashir Zainu arrested earlier by the same team have been arraign and are undergoing trial in court.

"Efforts is being emplaced to ensure that other syndicate members are arrested, investigated and charged to Court," Ambursa stated.
