Free Breast, Prostrate Screening To Commence On April 21 In

The Chief Executive Officer of La’Newton Cancer Clinic, Ugbor in Benin, Dr. Oludare Adeyemi says the clinic is set to commence free breast and prostate cancer screening on April 21.

Adeyemi said that the free screening is set to run from April 21 to April 23, and it is strictly for residents of the state.

"This is a free screening programme for breast and prostate cancer. There will be free consultations, clinical examinations, and tests", he stated.

According to him, breast cancer happens when cells in the breast grow and divide in an uncontrolled way, creating a mass of tissue called a tumor, while prostate cancer is in a man’s prostate, a small walnut-sized gland that produces seminal fluid.

He said that early diagnosis of cancer focused on detecting symptomatic patients as early as possible so they have the chance for successful treatment.

“When cancer care is delayed or inaccessible, there is a lower chance of survival, greater problems associated with treatment and higher costs of care", he noted.
