Fresh Crisis Rocks PDP As Party Suspends Osun Chairman

From all indications, another crisis has erupted in the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) over the suspension of Soji Adagunodo, the Osun State Chairman, Allnews reports.

This online medium learnt that the National Working Committee (NWC) of the party suspended Mr Adagunodo over allegations of anti-party activities on Thursday.

The suspension letter issued to Adagunodo was signed by Senator Usman Tsauri, the National Secretary of the party, our sources said.

In a report obtained, the Committee informed Mr Adagunodo to step aside as the party coordinator in the state, directing that the Vice-Chairman to oversee the affairs of the party till the outcome of its investigation.

It was gathered that the Committee has launched an investigation into allegations of maladministration, anti-party activities among others levelled against the Chairman.

Our sources disclosed that the suspension of Mr Adagunodo cannot be disconnected to the attempt by the Ademola Adeleke's loyalists to usurp power in the party ahead of the 2022 governorship poll in the state.

Recall that Mr Ademola Adeleke, who was the flag bearer of the party in the 2018 gubernatorial election in the state lost to the All Progressives Congress's (APC) Gboyega Oyetola.

Probing further, it was discovered that the embattled Chairman was accused of disloyalty to the candidacy of Ademola Adeleke in the 2018 poll.

However, in his reaction which was sent to Allnews on Friday afternoon, Mr Adagunodo sued for peace among members of the party, describing his suspension as 'unjust'.

He urged his supporters to remain calm, law-abiding and shun any act of violence arising from the letter addressed to him by the National Secretary of the party which was also circulated in the social media.

In his words, he said, "It is noted that the unjust contents therein might cause disaffection among the party members but I appeal to them to be calm."

He then appealed to all loyal party members to remain steadfast and resolute, saying: "the current situation is just a phase and it will fade away".
