From prison to president:  All you need to know about Senega

In a historical win for both democracy and Senegal, Bassirou Diomaye Faye has become the newly and duly elected president of Senegal. 

However, this victory for Senegal and democracy will not have come to fruition if not for the determination of the people of Senegal who came together and united for the purpose of prosperity and unity in their country. 

Below are some important things to know about Senegal's elect president: 

1. Bassirou Diomaye Faye is a Senegalese politician and currently the President-elect of Senegal.

2. He was born on March 25, 1980, in Ndiaganiao, Senegal, making him 44 years old. Africa's youngest now.

3. Faye previously worked as a tax inspector before entering politics. Not a career Politician

4. He is married to Marie Khone Faye and Absa Faye and has four children. He has a beautiful and responsible family

5. He was the general secretary of the PASTEF political party, which is now dissolved.

6. Faye ran in the 2024 presidential election as a replacement for disqualified candidate Ousmane Sonko

7. On March 25, 2024, his opponent Amadou Ba conceded defeat, making Faye the likely winner of the election. It was clear.

8. He is expected to be inaugurated on April 2, 2024, succeeding President Macky Sall.

9. Faye studied at the National School of Administration in Dakar. His education is clear.
