FRSC Cautions Motorists To Be Cautious As Rainy Season Begin

Motorists have been warned by the Enugu State sector of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) to be more careful as the rainy season begins.

The warning was given on Monday by the corps' Sector Commander, Joseph Toby, on Monday. He said that motorists would need to apply a good sense of judgment as the rains have set in because of slippery roads and poor visibility.

Speaking with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN), Toby stated that road users ought to apply 'common sense' speed to avoid road accidents.

"Rainy season is the difficult season to ply the roads. Drivers should drive defensively and possibly travel below recommended speed limits.

"Drivers should not use roads with which they are unfamiliar during torrential rains or when the road is flooded", he said.

The Sector Commander urged motorists to make sure their vehicles were well-maintained with good tyres that could have a firm group of the road.

He further advised them on the need for them to have good lights and an effective brake system. He also emphasised the need for drivers and commuters to plan their journeys well in advance.

Toby reminded travelers and motorists to plan their trips on time, embark on the journeys early in the day, and avoid night travels.
