Fuel Price Hike: Court Restrains NLC From Going Ahead With P

The National Industrial Court has restricted the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) and the Trade Union Congress (TUC) from going ahead with its planned industrial action slated for Monday, September 28, 2020.

Issuing the order in a ruling on an ex parte order filed by the Incorporated Trustees of Peace and Unity Ambassadors Association through their counsel, Justice Ibrahim Galadima also granted an order of interim injunction restraining the unions, their officers, affiliates, privies from disrupting, restraining, picketing or preventing the workers or its affiliates or ordinary Nigerians from accessing their offices to carry out their legitimate duties on September 28, 2020, or any other date.

AllNews had earlier reported the plan of the organised labour to commence an indefinite strike action over the Nigerian Government's refusal to reverse the increase in prices of petrol and electricity tariff.

It will be recalled that the organized Labour earlier issued the Federal government two weeks ultimatum to revert to the old old price of fuel and electricity tariff.

Following the refusal of the Federal Government to revert to the old price, NLC, however, revealed that it will go on with its planned industrial action.
