Fuel Price Hike In Nigeria: Student Association Begins Massi

The National Association of Nigeria Students (NANS), Osun State, on Tuesday, protested against the hike in petrol price, electricity tariff and cable TV subscriptions among others.

AllNews recalls that the Federal Government last Wednesday, through the Petroleum Pricing Marketing Company (PPMC), increased the ex-depot price of petrol from N138 to NN151.56 per litre, forcing marketers to increase pump price from N148 to N162 per litre.

The protesters, who converged on the Nelson Mandela Freedom Park, Old Garage in Osogbo, marched to Ola-Iya junction.

They were armed with placards with several inscriptions chanting anti-government songs.

Meanwhile, former Minister of Aviation, Chief Femi Fani-Kayode, has said that the hike in petrol price and electricity tariff is not acceptable in a civilized society.

Fani-Kayode, who lamented that the situation of the country was sad, spoke with journalists at the Government House, Agodi, Ibadan, the Oyo State capital.

He urged President Muhammadu Buhari to engage those who understand the dynamics of economies to help salvage the Nigerian economy.
