The Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) has handed the Federal Government of Nigeria a two-week ultimatum to revert the pump price of fuel and electricity tariff.
Issuing the ultimatum after the Union's Central Working Committee meeting in Abuja on Wednesday, the union's National President, Ayuba Wabba, said the ultimatum would take effect immediately.
He further revealed that the labour union will mobilize its members for a nationwide protest on September 28, if the federal government fails to adhere to the ultimatum.

Also, Wabba informed newsmen that the national executive committee and members and the state chapters and other affiliates will meet on the 22nd of September to decide on a strike action if the government refuses to revert to the old price by then.
“Today’s (Wednesday) decision on the ultimatum was taken by the Central Working Committee of the NLC. But by the expiration of the ultimatum, if the government fails to reverse the increase in electricity tariffs and fuel pump price, we would hold a meeting on September 28 and take a decision on a strike action,” he disclosed.
In a related development, AllNews had yesterday reported that Trade Union Congress (TUC) upheld its decision to carry on with its industrial action if the federal government fails to revert the fuel price and electricity tariff.
Also, Coalition of Nigeria Political Parties (CNPP) revealed that it would mobilize Trade Union Congress (TUC), Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) to join its planned protest against the recent increase and electricity tariff and fuel price hike.
Besides the fuel hike being the third within three months, it came at a time electricity distribution companies increased their tariffs.
