Fuel Subsidy Removal: Reno Omokri Knocks Celebrities Complaining

Fuel Subsidy Removal: Reno Omokri Knocks Celebrities Complai

Amid the sudden increase in petrol prices caused by the removal of fuel subsidy, political analyst Reno Omokri has expressed his disapproval of celebrities who complain about the removal while simultaneously flaunting their extravagant car collections on social media.

In a recent tweet, Omokri highlighted the vocal complaints coming from Nigerian celebrities who are known for showcasing their fleet of brand-new luxury cars online.

He further questioned why a country with limited resources like Nigeria should continue to subsidize fuel for celebrities who possess five vehicles primarily used for flaunting their wealth, status, and pursuing personal interests.

Omokri argued that if they are unable or unwilling to pay for fuel at market rates, they should consider relocating to a country that tolerates subsidies for the wealthy.

The political activist also emphasized that the presence of such individuals is one of the reasons why previous fuel subsidies failed to benefit those with low incomes who genuinely require assistance.

He concluded his statement by cautioning against the desire for Nigeria to follow the path of Venezuela, an oil-rich nation that ultimately suffered economic ruin due to the unsustainable practice of providing cheap petrol.

“Some of the people I see complaining of the removal of fuel subsidy and the sudden sharp increase in fuel prices have multiple cars. Some of them have come on this very Twitter to flaunt their latest brand-new luxury cars.

"My dear, why should a poor country like Nigeria be subsidising fuel for you, a yetebrity with five vehicles that you use for flaunting, fronting and chasing girls?

"Go and pay! If you can't pay, vamoose from Nigeria to any country that will tolerate subsidies for rich people.

"It is because of your likes that previous subsidies never trickled down to people with low incomes who really need it.

"Oni iranu like you! You want Nigeria to become like Venezuela, an oil rich country that was ruined by cheap petrol!” Omokri tweeted.
