FULafia Lecturer, Daughter To Be Charged To Court For Prosec

The Commissioner of Police Nasarawa State, AIG Adesina Soyemi has directed that the suspects arrested in connection with the assault of female teenager Blessing Mathias in Lafia should be charged to court for prosecution upon the conclusion of an investigation

The state's Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), Ramhan Nansel disclosed this in a statement following the arrest of two suspects, a senior lecturer with the Federal University of Lafia (FULafia), Dr Fred Ekpa Ayokhai, and his daughter, Emmanuela Ekpa Ayokhai. 

“The vehicle belonging to Dr Ayokhai which was used in conveying the victim to a location along Kwandere road, Lafia where she was assaulted has been recovered.

“Preliminary investigation revealed that Emmanuela Ekpa Ayokhai and the victim had a misunderstanding over a man named IG.

"The victim accused Emmanuela of snatching her supposed boyfriend and assaulting her.

"In retaliation, Emmanuela mobilised her family, went after the victim and got her assaulted as well."

Two (2) more suspects have been arrested by the Nigeria Police in connection to the assault on 20-year-old Blessing Mathias in Lafia, Nasarawa State on Friday. 

The state's Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), DSP Ramhan Nansel, confirmed the arrest in a statement issued in Lafia on Saturday. 

Nansel said the arrest was in continuation of the relentless pursuit of all suspects connected to the case of the assault that was captured in a video that has gone viral. 

The suspects, Bob Praise Ayokhai, a 23-year-old student of Microbiology at the Federal University of Lafia (FULafia) and 21-year-old Saint-Dan Ayokhai were arrested for being parties to the commission of the dastardly act.

“The Command wishes to assure members of the public that no stone will be left unturned in the course of the investigation as all outcomes will be made public," he added.
