FUOYE, VC Bag Achievement Awards

Prof Abayomi Fasina, the Vice-Chancellor of Federal University Oye-Ekiti (FUOYE), Ekiti State, has bagged an Integrity Icon Of Nigeria Award as the third best of 170 VCs.

The award was conferred on the VC in a letter by International Non-Governmental Organisation (NGO), Centre for Ethics and Self-Valued Orientation (CESVO).

CESVO stated that Fashina's rebranding of the university in less than two years as its VC was impressive, hence the award.

According to Prince Musa Yakubu, the Chief Executive Officer of the NGO in Nigeria, the VC in a survey was rated the most progressive and hardworking vice-chancellor of over 100 counterparts.

On its part, FUOYE also ranked number 10 university “with highly rated and corrupt-free and most ethically responsible Federal University”.

“One of the most shocking things in our investigation was a series of achievements of the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Abayomi Fasina recorded in less than two years in office.

“We have the certificate of credence which ranks this university among the Top 10 highly rated corruption-free and most ethically responsible federal universities.

“Prof Fasina scored about 70 marks in character and integrity as well as other leadership skills and has brought the attributes to bear in administering FUOYE,” Yakubu said.

Reacting to the awards, Fashina lauded the NGO's director and his team for the award which he described as appropriate and in line with his determination to make FUOYE one of the best universities in the 21st century.

“Ours is to make the university No. 1 in the 21st century as there is something we are doing right that makes the students keep applying to the university.

“We have 11 faculties and we have excellent staff and we will keep doing our best,” Fashina said.
