Galaxy Backbone Trains 43 Permanent Secretaries On Digitalisation In Public Sector

43 Permanent Secretaries from various Ministries, Departments, and Agencies (MDAs) of the government have received training from Galaxy Backbone (GBB) on digitalisation in the public sector.

According to GBB, the Federal Government made a conscious effort to encourage the transition from paper-based procedures to complete digitalization in the public sector.

Prof. Muhammad Abubakar, the managing director of the GBB, opened the capacity training on Thursday in Abuja.

Abubakar, who was represented by the agency's Executive Director, Finance and Corporate Services Unit, Alhaji Adamu Umar, claimed that the training served as a vehicle to encourage workable economic strategies for generating income.

The one-day capacity building training was with the Theme: ‘’The Objective Transformation and to Achieve Paperless Policy Initiative”.

Speaking to the attendees, Abubakar outlined the organization's mandates, with a special focus on the use of digital transformation to advance and enhance the quality of services and ensure the sustainability of the national economy.

“This provides digital training as one of the services by Galaxy Backbone.

“We also provide the land and wireless interventions local area network infrastructure across the MDAs.

“We are assuring you of our unrelenting support and cooperation wherever we are required,” he said.

Digital Economy and Nigerian Public Service was the topic of a speech by Damola Sogunro of the e-Government Department, Ministry of Communication and Digital Economy.

According to Sogunro, e-commerce and domestic productivity should receive a lot of attention since they have the potential to revolutionise creativity, provide new job possibilities, and enhance value via income generation.

“This is so important to moving the public sector from where it is to where it needs to be.

“It will create a world-class open government that has the attributes of transparency, efficiency and quality of service,” she said.

FCTA Permanent Secretary Olusade Adesola, in the company of ICT Director Malam Zakari Bala, stated that 2500 staff members had previously been trained in a similar manner.

“We did the upgrading and we have connected all our FCT staffers through fibre and we are presently training 2500 staff on ICT provision,” he said.

According to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN), Galaxy Backbone Limited has a variety of engagements, including training.
