Gamboru Market Fire: Zulum Orders Recruitment of 38 Volunteer Firemen

Gamboru Market Fire: Zulum Orders Recruitment of 38 Voluntee

The Governor of Borno State, Babagana Umara Zulum, has ordered the employment of 38 volunteer firemen to the Borno State Fire Service as permanent staff.

The governor's gesture was to appreciate their effort in containing the Saturday Gamboru Market Fire incident, preventing it from causing more damage.

He noted that 20 of the volunteers work with the Maiduguri International Hotel while 18 work with the Borno State Fire Service, offering services the same as the permanent staff without equal entitlements.

This was made available in a statement on Monday by the spokesperson to the governor, Malam Isa Gusau.

According to Gusau, Zulum also directed the state's fire service to immediately send to his office all its requirements that would ensure the optimal performance of the firemen.

The governor also extended a similar gesture to the Federal Fire Service, asking them to submit requirements in order to get some intervention from the state government.
