Jade Osiberu, the director of the movie ‘Gangs of Lagos’, has taken to social media to call for an end to bootlegging in Nollywood.
Osiberu made the call via her Twitter handle on Thursday, urging fans to subscribe to a seven-day free trial on Prime Video to watch the movie instead of resorting to piracy.
In her tweet, Osiberu noted that there was no need for fans to watch the movie on pirate sites, adding that the movie industry needed support to continue producing ambitious and impressive content that Nigerians could be proud of.
“Guys, there’s really no need to watch on these pirate/ole sites. Just subscribe for a 7-day free trial and you can watch the film on http://primevideo.com,” she tweeted.
“You want to see more of Nollywood that’s ambitious and that you can be proud of? You need to STOP bootlegging Nollywood.”

‘Gangs of Lagos’, a feisty crime thriller co-produced by Jade Osiberu and Kemi Lala Akindoju, premiered on April 7, garnering a lot of attention and buzz on social media.
The movie stars Tobi Bakre (‘Sugar Rush’), Adesua Etomi-Wellington (‘The Wedding Party’) and musician-turned-actor Chike, alongside other high-profile actors such as Chioma Akpotha, Bimbo Ademoye, Zlatan Ibile, Iyabo Ojo and Tayo Faniran.
The plot of the movie revolves around the story of three childhood friends struggling to escape Isale Eko, only to find the pull of the criminal underworld drawing them back in.
