George Akume has been sworn in as the new Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF) by President Bola Tinubu.
Akume's swearing-in took place on Wednesday at the Presidential Villa, Abuja and comes after he was officially picked as the one to hold the position.
Individuals who witnessed the event included the governor of Benue State, Rev. Fr. Hycent Alia and some servicing and former governors, including the former governor of Nasarawa State, Tanko Almakura and the immediate past SGF, Boss Mustapha.
Others are Vice President Kashim Shettima; Senate President Ahmed Lawan; Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq of Kwara State, Head of the Civil Service of the Federation, Dr FolasadeYemi-Esan and the spouse of the new SGF, Mrs Regina Akume.
President Tinubu previously confirmed Femi Gbajabiamila as his Chief of Staff following continued speculations.
“President Bola Ahmed Tinubu Friday in Abuja announced the appointment of Speaker of House of Representatives, Rt. Hon. Femi Gbajabiamila as Chief of Staff, and Sen. Ibrahim Hassan Hadejia, a former Deputy Governor of Jigawa State, as Deputy Chief of Staff.
“In a meeting with Progressives Governors Forum (PGF), the President also named former Governor of Benue State and immediate past Minister of Special Duties, George Akume, Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF)”, the statement on Akume and Gbajabiamila's appointments reads.
