George Floyd: Body Cam Footage Of Floyd's Arrest Uncovered

A footage from a body camera, also called body cams, of one of the police officers that pinned George Floyd to the ground for nine minutes despite his pleas for release, saying, "I can't breathe," has been uncovered by news platform Daily Mail.

Daily Mail did not disclose the source of the footage.

In the footage, Thomas Lane, one of the officers present at the scene asked Derek Chauvin, the policeman who knelt on Floyd's neck, if Floyd should be rolled on his side.

Floyd's death sparked protests across the United States after the video of the officers pinning Floyd to the ground despite his pleas went viral.

The officer whose body cam was uncovered was Thomas Lane, who has been dismissed from service, with Lane's lawyer using the footage as proof in court against the charges brought against him.

The presiding judge, Judge Peter Cahill, only made the footage from the body cam available for in-person viewing at court on July 15.

There have been calls from media agencies demanding that the body cam footage be released, as Cahill has refused to release the footage to the public.

According to an attorney for Floyd's family, Ben Crump, the footage showed that Floyd was killed unprovoked, as he did not  "pose any threat," stating that his race was the most significant motive.

Crump said, "The police officers approached him with guns drawn, simply because he was a Black man. As this video shows, he never posed any threat. The officers' contradictions continue to build. If not for the videos, the world might never have known about the wrongs committed against George Floyd."

All the officers at the scene have been dismissed from service.
