George Floyd's Funeral Slated For June 9

The date for the funeral of George Floyd, the African American man who was killed a white police officer, Derek Chauvin, has been scheduled for June 9, as disclosed by the family's lawyer.

The lawyer, Crump, said “In Minneapolis, there will be a memorial here Thursday, at 1:00 to 3:00,” said attorney Ben Crump, speaking at a press conference in Minneapolis to report the findings of an independent autopsy.

“On Saturday, there will be a memorial service in North Carolina, where he was born, at 1:00 to 3:00. And then on Tuesday, June the ninth, the funeral will take place in Houston, Texas at 11:00 am."

George, 46, died on May 27, under the knee of Derek Chauvin, a police officer from the Minneapolis Police Department, after enduring under the pressure of Derek's knee for close to nine minutes.

His death has led to a global protest against the mistreatment of African Americans at the hands of unruly police officers, encapsulating the Black Lives Matter movement that has echoed through the years.

The autopsy, as disclosed by Crump, Floyd's family lawyer, revealed that George died from suffocation and not any pre-existing heart problems as proclaimed by state medical officials.
